Individual Driver vs. Company Driver

Bikum has two types of truck driver accounts. Make sure you're on the right guide before proceeding.

This Guide — Individual Driver
You own your truck & work independently
  • You register and manage everything yourself via the mobile app
  • You accept the platform commission yourself (10% flat on all loads)
  • You add your own bank details in the app — payments go directly to you
  • You manage your own subscription renewal
  • No carrier company manages or tracks you
  • You browse and quote on loads independently
Not This Guide — Company Driver
You drive for a registered carrier company
  • Your company registers on the web portal and accepts commission on your behalf
  • Lower tiered commission rates apply (8%, 6%, 5%)
  • Payments go to the company's bank account — not yours
  • Your company can track your location, renew your subscription, and manage your account
  • You link to your company by entering their traffic file number during truck registration

How to Register as an Individual Driver

Follow these steps on the Bikum mobile app to register your account, add your truck, and go live. Everything is done from your phone.

1
Step 1
Download the Bikum App

Download the Bikum mobile app for free from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Search for "Bikum" on the App Store or Google Play Store.
Or visit bikum.org/#download for direct links.
Individual driver registration is only available via the mobile app. There is no web portal registration for drivers.
When the app opens for the first time, allow location access — always and in the background. Without this, your truck will not appear on the shipper's map and you will not receive load requests or shipper calls. To enable manually: Android → Settings → Apps → Bikum → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time. iOS → Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Bikum → Always.
2
Step 2
Select Your Role & Create Your Account

Open the app and sign up. The first thing you do is select your role, then fill in your personal details.

Step 1 — Select your role:
• Choose Shipper (to post loads) or Carrier (to transport loads)
• As a driver, select Carrier

Step 2 — Fill in your personal details:
• Full name
• Phone number
• Email address
• Password
• Account type: select Individual

Alternative — Sign in with:
Google account — available on Android devices
Apple account — available on iOS devices
Make sure to select Individual as your account type — not Company. Selecting Company means you intend to operate under a registered carrier company's traffic file number.
3
Step 3
Register Your Truck

Add your truck details. Your account is not fully active and you cannot receive loads until your truck is registered. The 180-day free trial also starts from this step.

Information required:
• Truck plate number
• Truck type (flatbed, refrigerated, tanker, tipper, etc.)
• Truck weight class
• Country and city of registration
• Traffic file number — fill in manually and scan the barcode on the back of the vehicle registration card
• Vehicle registration card images (front & back — mandatory)
• Operating domain: Domestic (UAE only)
The vehicle registration card photo is mandatory. The app uses AI (OCR) to auto-fill some fields from the image — photograph it clearly in good lighting for best results.
Your 180-day free trial starts the moment your truck is added — not from your account registration date. You can register your account today and add your truck whenever you're ready.
4
Step 4
Accept the Platform Commission Agreement

When you submit your truck registration request, a commission agreement dialog appears automatically. Accepting it is mandatory to complete the truck registration — you cannot proceed without it. As an individual driver, you handle this yourself with no company doing it on your behalf.

Individual driver commission rate:
• A flat 10% platform fee is deducted from every completed load payment
• Example: You quote 1,000 AED for a load → Bikum deducts 100 AED → You receive 900 AED

Factor this into your quotes to shippers so your net earnings match your expectations.
Always quote shippers an amount that already accounts for the 10% commission. If you want to earn 1,000 AED net, quote approximately 1,112 AED to the shipper.
5
Step 5
Add Your Bank Details

Add your UAE bank account details so Bikum can transfer your earnings after completed deliveries. This is managed entirely by you — unlike company drivers whose payments go to the company.

Required bank information:
• Bank name (select from UAE bank list)
• Account holder name
• UAE IBAN number

Where to add them: App → My Profile → Bank Account Details
Bank details are not mandatory during registration, but you will see a warning when submitting quotes until they are added. Completed delivery payments cannot be transferred to you without bank details on file.
6
Step 6
Enable Background Location Tracking

When prompted, allow the Bikum app to access your location always — including in the background. This is critical to appearing on the shipper's map and receiving load requests.

Why this matters:
• Without background location, your truck will not appear on the shipper's map
• Shippers browse the live map to find nearby trucks — if you're not visible, you won't receive requests
• Background location allows you to receive load notifications even when the app is not open

How to enable:
• Android: Settings → Apps → Bikum → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time
• iOS: Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Bikum → Always
Keep background location enabled at all times while you are on duty. You can turn it off when you are not working to save battery.
7
Step 6
You're Live — Start Receiving Loads & Calls

Once your truck is added, you are fully active on Bikum. Your truck appears on the shipper map, you start receiving shipper calls, chat messages, and relevant load requests immediately — your 180-day free trial is running.

What happens once you are active:
• Shippers can see your truck on the map and send you load requests directly
• You receive shipper calls and chat messages through the app
• Relevant loads matching your truck type are shown to you automatically
• You can browse available loads and submit quotes
• Once a shipper accepts your quote, you are committed to delivering the load — there is no option to cancel or decline after acceptance
• Track your earnings and delivery history in the app
• Manage your bank details and subscription from My Profile
Only submit a quote if you are fully committed to completing the delivery. Once a shipper accepts your quote, you are responsible for fulfilling the load as agreed.
Your free trial runs for 180 days from when you added your truck. Before it expires, subscribe to keep your access: 600 AED for 180 days or 1,000 AED for 360 days.
Platform Commission

Individual Driver Commission Rate

As an independent driver, a flat 10% platform fee applies to all completed loads. Factor this into every quote you submit to shippers.

500 AED

Bikum: 50 AED
You get: 450 AED
1,000 AED

Bikum: 100 AED
You get: 900 AED

Bikum: 300 AED
You get: 2,700 AED
7,000 AED

Bikum: 700 AED
You get: 6,300 AED

Important Notes

Commission is only charged on completed deliveries. Once a shipper accepts your quote, you are committed to delivering the load — the commission applies when the delivery is completed.
Always quote higher than your desired net amount to account for the 10% deduction. Use this formula: your desired amount ÷ 0.9 = quote amount.
The commission is deducted automatically before the payment is released to your bank account.
If you later join a carrier company on Bikum, you will benefit from lower tiered rates (8%, 6%, 5%) instead of the flat 10%.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from individual drivers getting started on Bikum.

When does my 180-day free trial start?
The 180-day free trial starts from the day you add your truck in the app — not from the day you create your account. This means you can register your account today and add your truck whenever you're ready, and the trial countdown only begins from that truck addition date. During the 180 days, you have full access to receive loads, submit quotes, and use GPS tracking with no payment required.
When is my account fully active and eligible to receive loads?
Your account is not fully active just by registering. You become eligible to receive loads and shipper requests only after completing your truck registration — including uploading the vehicle registration card, filling in the traffic file number, and having your truck details saved in the system. Until the truck is added, you will not appear on the Bikum map and cannot receive any load requests or shipper calls.
Do I need to add bank details before I can receive loads?
Bank details are not required to receive loads or appear on the map. However, when you submit a quote without bank details on file, you will see a warning message reminding you to add them. Completed delivery payments cannot be transferred to you without bank details. We strongly recommend adding them as soon as possible to avoid any delay in receiving your earnings.
What is the commission rate for individual drivers?
Individual drivers pay a flat 10% platform fee on all completed loads. This is deducted automatically before the payment is released to your bank account. For example, if a shipper pays 1,000 AED for a load, Bikum deducts 100 AED and you receive 900 AED. Always factor this into your quotes — if you want to earn 900 AED net, quote 1,000 AED to the shipper.
Why should I enable location tracking always and in the background?
Enabling background location is critical for receiving loads. When background location is active, shippers can see your truck's real-time position on the map and send you load requests even when you are not actively using the app. Without it, your truck will not appear on the shipper's map and you will miss nearby load opportunities. You are prompted to enable this permission during app setup. Keep it enabled at all times while on duty — you can disable it when you are not working.
What if I entered an incorrect traffic file number during truck registration?
If you entered the wrong traffic file number, don't worry — you can update your truck details from the app after registration. Go to your truck profile and edit the traffic file number. If the corrected number matches a carrier company registered on Bikum, the system will automatically link you to that company and update your account type from Individual to Company driver. If no match is found, you remain as an independent driver.
Can I sign up using my Google or Apple account?
Yes. On Android devices you can sign up and log in using your Google account. On iOS devices you can use your Apple account. Both options are available on the sign-up screen as an alternative to creating an account with your email and password.
Who manages my subscription renewal as an individual driver?
As an individual driver, you are responsible for managing and renewing your own subscription. Unlike company drivers whose carrier company can renew their subscription from the portal, you renew directly through the Bikum mobile app before your current subscription period ends. Make sure to renew before expiry to avoid any interruption to your access on the platform.
Can I later join a carrier company after registering as an individual driver?
Yes. If you later decide to operate under a carrier company registered on Bikum, you can update your truck details and enter the company's traffic file number. Once the correct number is saved, the system will automatically link you to that company and change your account type to Company driver. Your commission rate will then shift from the individual 10% flat rate to the company's lower tiered rates (8%, 6%, 5%) and payments will go to the company's bank account instead of yours.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Individual Truck Drivers: Drivers can submit a cancellation request from the My Profile screen in the Bikum app. Please note there is no refund on paid subscription fees. Once cancelled, your subscription remains active until the end of your current validity period — you will not be charged again after that. If you change your mind, you can resume your subscription at any time within the remaining validity period at no extra cost. Once the validity period ends, resuming access will require paying the standard subscription fee based on your chosen package (600 AED / 180 days or 1,000 AED / 360 days).

In all cases, subscriptions are never auto-renewed. When your validity period ends, your account will not be renewed unless you actively pay for a new subscription period.
